A lovely bright and sunny day :D
Superbike race is at 2 PM .
A phone call to my local mate Colly has given us better instructions as to how to get to Laurel bank.
We know we were virtually at the spot yesterday and our search just needed a bit of fine tuning :D
We will be picking up my local mate Westy who will ride pillion on the back of me.
We will meet Colly there.
Forgot to post these pics from yesterday down at the peel harbour.

350 LC brought back memories as I had one brand new :D

We did not have the 400 Daytona in the UK but what a lovely example.
Off out on the bikes
More later :D

Anther bright and sunny day  :D
With the races not due to start till 2 pm we headed towards the very south of the island up the mull hill.
There was some old pillbox from the war there
Image
The views were spectacular off the top of the pillbox :D

Image
Looking back towards Port Erin

Image
Looking towards the very south of the island and the Calf of Man island

Image
We rode to the next hill we could see in the distance where my old house was.
I lived  here from age 16 to 21.
We continued down to the most southerly point on the island
"The sound"
The careful eating plan took yet another hit

Image
We headed off to pick up local mate Westy  :D
We found the route to Laurel bank and as we got there the film crew were clearing everyone off the viewing platform to film the first lap of the race for TV.
We stood next to the platform and the minute the film crew left jumped on :D
What a view and we had the best place there :D

Thanks to Darth (Jim) on the KTOG forum for sorting the video for me.

After the races it was back to peel where there was an open day on the promenade.

I thought you may all be interested in the quality of chrome on this pole! :D

Image

Image
You can google the name of the company to ring and find out where the chroming was done :D

Image
RD 400 brought back memories of my proddy racing days :D
Was it really 37 years ago!!

Image
250 had the ugly UK spec rear mudguard (fender)

Image
CB 550 was a USA import

Image
H2R belonged to manx team Collins and Russell who use it for parading.
Back at base after yet another great ride over the sloch road my mum had done us a Sunday roast with wine!!
The evening was rounded off once again with a few pints of guinness :D

There was a big race programme crammed into the day and after mums usual great breakfast we set off to ballaspur approx 7 miles out on the course.
This was the scene of Manx rider Milky Quayles  high speed crash a few years ago
http://youtu.be/DS4S5gyWEqM
Press the link
And yes he survived and is now the  TT liaison officer.
An accident on the open road  put the races on hold and it didn't sound good as it was a collision between a motorcycle and car.
With time to waste we walked through the field to the next marshalling point as fellow triples club rider "farmer John" was there.
He was on his 72 H2 which he had owned for 28 years and it had covered some 40,000 miles with no rebore!!
Incidentally he paid £925 for it! :D
Image

The races finally got underway with the sidecars and there were a few spectators at this point even though it was a bit remote

Image

Image

Image
After the race we headed back down to peel once again down the harbour and the careful eating plan once again took a hit with yet another scorn, jam and cream!
We could see some local fishing boats coming in so rode around the harbour to see what they were catching ?

Image
It was mainly  crabs and the crew said they were pleased with there catch and you can see one trying to make a bit for freedom on the side of the bag!

Image
Back on the bikes it was up to kirkmichael and turning into one of the campsites we made our way down t o the waters edge :D

Image

Image

Image

Image
The coastline was eroding away and here the fence which had one time been on the cliff top was now in mid air!!

Image

Back on the bikes we headed back on the TT course as the roads would shut soon for the next race the super sport 600
We turned off so we were inside the course and headed up in to the  top area of the island.

Image

Image

We turned off and headed back down on another route we had used many times before

Image
This was a very bleak spot and you can see what the strong winds had d one to the trees over the years
Lower down we stopped at the local reservoir

Image

Union mills was our destination for the super sport race

Image
It was a sit down Indian meal next in Castletown and after dropping the bikes off we went to the pub yet again :D
The pace was however proving too hot for some

Another bright and sunny day :D
We messed about too much yesterday morning and left it a bit tight to get where we wanted to go before the roads closed for the races
The advantage was the roads on the course were really quiet :D so we put on a good display on the triples to the many spectators that were lining the course :D
We reached kirkmichael with the Marshall's holding one finger up to indicate we had one minute before the roads closed!
Coming out of Kirkmichael we were taken off the road at rhencullen which was exactly the point I had been trying to get to!
Using the "B" roads we made our way around to the gooseneck a popular viewing point.
As we parked  the triples a biker approached us and asked was it us doing the write up on the forums
He was following it in the Z1 owners forum where I also post it :D
It was a great viewing spot :D
Image

Image

Image

Image
Padgetts were signalling for there rider Dan Kneen

After the races we took the "B" road to maughold. Head to look at the lighthouse which was automated in 1993

Image
There was a great view of the island from here :D

Image
Back on the bikes it was back to laxey for an ice cream, large of course:shock:
In fact they were that nice we had two
Quick look into Douglas town centre seen Pete buying a voucher for my mum as a thank you for having him  :D
We had a great ride back to Port Erin on the B roads :D  :D
After another great dinner from my mum it was the pub yet again with local mate Westy :D

Image

Image

And we are now into our last day on the Island with a ferry home to catch at 3PM :(
What a great week it's been and we should catch the main race today :D
Big big thanks to my mum for looking after us
It really is a 7 star hotel  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Malc, What a great report on the TT. This is the first time I haven't been in the last 6 years, but your reports made me feel I was there.
