paul
after just a few days on the forum and reading all the posts(and a good forum it is too!!) it seems to me that some of the members are not wanting to bring there bikes as they think they are not concours or good enough??
the bikes at uttoxetor were simply "outstanding" which many members do not have.
i would not bring my own z1a as it is a user and apart from the "repaint"
after market repro 4 pipes, repro shocks and i think a recovered seat it is a "very "average z1a with rusty rear spokes!!
i would be embarrised to show it as most of the standard bikes i see on your stand are sooooo good??

Horses for courses (:rofl !!!) with Uttoxeter the feeling was as it was a VJMC do we should have mainly good stuff. We have a mix of stuff at others it depends on the show. At Ballymena two years ago we had Davy's '72 Z1 straight from the Utah desert where it had sat for twenty years untouched and it got more far interest than any of the shiny ones.
The stuff on the triples stand is always fairly mint too malc - sometimes some of it is even really new...

Without being rude to anyone past, present or future, we've had "user" bikes at all our shows over the years, some to the point of "abused"! The only show we are oversubscribed at is Stafford, and even then, I've probably only turned down 3 or 4 individual bikes in 13 years of the show, so if we do have a quality filter, I rarely have need to use it. Indeed, thinking about turning bikes down, EVERY one has been turned down due to the stand being full. I have never bumped a bike off because I've had a late offer of a better one - that's not fair, it's always been first come first served.
Just to put my two pennyworth in
I would expect a diverse selection of bikes that the club represents is probably better than prestigeous and spotless models. It will probably lead to more interest from the general public and more people realising that these are still reliable and usable bikes for everyday transport if so needed.
