The ride will be starting at Leigh Delamere Service Station J17 (eastbound) of the M4. Please start arriving from 10:30am.

Each rider will pay £5 and receive an Afghan Heroes wristband, which will be their entry pass to RAF Lyneham. The lead riders will be leaving at 12 noon promptly. The route will be along the M4 to J16 before heading along the A-Roads towards Wootton Bassett. We will be riding through at a slow speed before continuing along to RAF Lyneham. We are honored that they are opening their gates for us and refreshments will be available.

All those attending RAF Lyneham will require to pre register giving Name, Address, DOB and Bike Registration. This is to enable security clearance to be carried out by the RAF. REGISTRATION CLOSES MONDAY 15TH FEBRUARY 2010. Anyone who does not register WILL NOT be allowed onto RAF Lyneham.

We will be riding to RAF Lyneham where there will be a presentation to hand over the funds raised for the Afghan Heroes Charity, set up last September by a group of mothers who lost their sons in Afghanistan.

IF YOU KNOW OF ANY BIKERS WHO WISH TO ATTEND THE RIDE WHO HAVEN’T REGISTERED ON FACEBOOK CAN YOU ENSURE THAT THEY REGISTER ON THE SECURE SITE.

Just checked the official ride site and registration has been suspended. Could be something to do with the numbers as there are now well over 10,000 bikes registered.

That's going to take some organising to meet up and ride out! Hope it still goes ahead coz it's going to be an awsome ride.

They had to shut down the registration site because of the overwhelming response , final total for those who managed to beat the cut off point was 10,333 bikes.

It seems that the cut off point was imposed when someone sat down and worked out that 10,333 bikes add up to a line of bikes 22 miles long when rideing side by side and 9 foot road space between the pairs of bikes.

having read some of the comments posted on the ride forum it sounds as if there will be 10,000 bikes on the run and near the same amount again turning up to watch the run because they missed out on the registration cut off date.

Let's hope they arrange some more runs elsewhere - great to see so many signing up for such a good cause.

How many would turn-up in the summer?! 10000+ bikes, that's a lot.

With a bit of luck Weston-Super-Mare's bike nights through the summer will be well attended too - they help to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
That GSX600F's rear light sticks up in the air like a Baboon's arse?!

Mother’s day ride through Wootton Bassett – Official Announcement.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Following announcement has been passed to us by the event organisers. This replaces all previous announcements. The FAQ will be updated to reflect this new information.
An announcement… and at last it’s great news!

All the agencies (Police, MOD & Local Authorities) have come together to make the Mother’s day ride through Wootton Bassett possible.

The ride will now start within the Hullavington Airfield nr Buckley army barracks (A429) and all of the 10331 registered riders will pass through Wootton Bassett before dispersing. All registered riders will soon receive (by email) full instructions/documentation of the route, arrival / leaving times, a proof of registration and the method by which we are going to get this many riders through a small Wiltshire village safely and without causing total gridlock.

We absolutely understand how difficult it must be for those that missed registration however must ask non-registered riders NOT TO ATTEND; As this poses a major threat to fellow bikers who would be at very high risk if left stationary on the M4 motorway as a result of any of the local junctions becoming blocked.

We must stress that ONLY REGISTERED RIDERS will be able to go on the organised ride.

We would like to thank The Unity Ride team for their assistance in the negotiations, planning and kind offer to marshal.

Thank you everybody who has offered their help for this event. If you still would like to contribute your time or services then please use the contact form on the Official Afghan Heroes web site and tell us what you can provide.
