Where did everyone get to? I went to Brighton to see my lad today as he's in University there, so we went to the seafront and walked the show end to end without seeing a single Zed. Although there was a fair few bikes there I'd say that they where made up of 98% Harleys or Harley lookalikes 1% Trikes and in the remaining 1% there was a few ok bikes, managed to watch a couple of bands though which weren't bad.

What a day ! I left home in the dark at 7.00 and met up with Maine at his house before riding off to meet Bunny by the M25. A little moisture in the air turned into light rain which made the roads wet enough to ride carefully. I have already made my apologies to Chris for the fact that I wouldn`t have been surprised if he had given up at this point as his bike has had so much time and effort in it. Thankfully I was wrong and we pressed on. Neither of us had any waterproofs with us as every forecast had it down at 15 degrees and blue sky. We pulled up next to a guy in Wycombe on a Street Triple who said "NICE".

We pulled up at Rykas and got tea and butties then Guy and Jez arrived. The guy from Wycombe pulled up at the same time having taken a different route. Sorry no pic` but the bike looks great.

Image

Jez and Guy arrived and told us of an altercation with a car that saw Guy give it the berries and nearly lose the back end due to the councils finest banding coupled with a little moisture !
A steady ride down to Brighton using as many A roads as we could and we could tell it was a lot more comfortable than last year with maybe half the amount of peple. We quickly booked in and got those that hadn`t a place in the Custom and Classic show.

We had a walk along the Drive and found these for sale. After Guy`s dramatic wheelspin earlier he pondered wether this may be a more suitable means of transport in inclement weather ?

Image

We saw this V Max for sale.........I particularly liked the sellers name !

Image

And this badge, possibly suitable for our Antipodean bretherin ?

Image

An awful lot of Hardleys there but one or two interesting vehicles.

Eat your heart out Zed1015.................here`s a proper `charger :D

Image

Image

We hung around for ages until the prizegiving which was done by the most underdressed girlies at the show :??
This guy won best rat.

Image

And Z1OC do it again with best Classic.

Image

Image

Image

Chris just had to act the fool !

Image

You can see the best rat in the background.

Image

And here is the prize winning bike.

More rain on the way back but when the sun finally did come out the temperature fell quite drastically. Avoiding the A23 dual we went along some great backroads  . That`ll teach `em to get me to find a route
We left Guy and Jez at Boxhill and stopped for tea and a tab !

Image

The M25 was its usual `mare of a Sunday evening and we split around Denham. By the time I got home I was frozen and "dog tired" but I had a great day and it was reward to see Maine win a beautiful trophy made with real stone ! I don`t know what these people are thinking when they give out such huge trophies, maybe he could bungee it to his seat ? Thankfully Bunny always brings a big bag, just in case

Well done guys, [especially to Chris], for winning best classic.
How many of the bikes in the show were ridden there?

It was a great day but like TLC i got home in the dark about 7.30-7.45 cold and wet.

That incident with that red Nissan was a real wake up call - he undertook me at a round'about and i thought i'm not having this as the red mist came down  so i gave it a hand full and went to overtake him, went on to the white then all i remember is the rear wheel spining and the back end going side ways, then got traction again and managed to get her straight and shot past him (new change of underwear please)
Jez did say it did look quite impressive but i'm not sure i would like to try it again.

Well none to Chris (Maine) for winning best classic.

Yeah - lovely girl that Sarah (the brunette) and very attentive.

I know it broke her heart, but I had to knock her back. I mean she was never going to make it back to Bucks - pillion - in those leather hot pants. Wouldn't have been fair to let her try.

Great to get the gong - particularly as I missed so much of the season with my second engine rebuild  - but better yet to ride out and kick around with such a great bunch of guys.

Sorry - I'll stop now - I'm gushing and it's embarrassing everyone

:D
