Z1A Tach O Ring and Seal Help Please

I have my bits from Z1 Enterprises, I pulled the tach cable and mount from the engine, and I am stumped. The O ring is obvious, pull the old one and install the new. I do not see where the seal goes, or how. Either there was not one installed in the first place or I am too thick to see what I need to do

The seal is more or less a rubber plug with a hole through it. The OD steps down on one end. The tach cable is attached to the flanged alloy bit that has the o ring. I also have removed the gear with the shaft. I have looked and examined the recess it all came out of, no seal in there. Does the shaft of the gear go through the seal? Does the stepped down portion face into the engine or toward the front wheel. Someone please help, direct me with superior Zed wisdom.

i just looked in zpowers parts book and there are 5 parts, starting from nearest the head they are,
the metal gear
then there is a 10m/m o ring,
then the guide as they call it, its the bit that the cable screws on to and is held onto the head by a screw,
then a oil seal, think this is the tappered one,
and finaly the screw holding it all onto the head.
If my memory is working you assemble them in this order, or thats how it looks in the parts book. (always worth getting the book from zpower).
hope this helps,
peter.

good day,
On thae same sort of issue any one know the thread size for the bit the Cable outer goes onto?
I'm thinking of an electronic Tach and would like to cover it with a cap. Anyone one had any success with this?
regards
Howie

The seal sits in the guide as shown. I've just had to change mine and was a little confused myself. The old was was so covered in oil it was difficult to tell it was there.
Hope the image helps. The seal is just visible in the guide.

That did the trick, thanks. I have it installed, and am now doing some other bits.
