castrol gtx seems to be the way to go but i always use semi synthetic. fully synthetic is a waste of money on a road bike. Me mate , a while ago ,explained all about oils, he says semi is up to the same standard as old mineral oil, if not better and wont do any harm. I tend to trust what he says as he works for one of the top tt and bss teams, Mr McGuinness's mechanic and he also races a P and M kawasaki (zed engined). I am Thinking about trying gtx though. Just to see if it makes any difference.

as long as its a motorcycle oil and a well known brand it will be ok.
People say they were designed to run on GTX but that was all they had at the time.

I get your point, especially as there was not much choice back in the days, unless you could afford Silkoline and all that stuff, but when I tried semi synthetic it made the clutch slip. I phoned Castrol on the number given on the oil can and they said go back to GTX.

Iv'e never had any problems, but i will try gtx, though its not easy to get any round here. none off the local bike shops sell it so thats why iv'e always used semi synthetic.
The zed's due an oil change about now so ill give it a try.

I've used silkolene super 4 with no problems or clutch slip and also GTX But i'm gonna use Rock oil TRM20/60 in my project supercharged zed as it's designed for roller bearing cranks . Anyone else used this ??.

Using semi to run in may cause rings not to bed in and caused mine to slip the clutch also.
Run in on mineral ................after that its down to preference and pocket.
