ive got a bit of rattle coming from the fork area on the z1a, go over a bump and something sounds loose. ive checked the h/lamp, rebuilt the caliper, mudguard tight, clock bracket has new foam, new clock mounting kit. so im going to have a look inside the forks, i am going to put progressive springs in, ive seen the hagon 525mm springs, are there others?

Hey Mick, Wirth do progressive springs for the Zeds, you'll find a lot of shops on the German ebay do 'em for €79, www.ebay.de.

Hyperpro also do progressive springs, and I found this crowd that do a rather nice upgrade for the standard Zed forks with a kit, a "cartridge emulator" it's an adjustable valve that goes over the damper rod at the bottom of the fork slider http://www.racetech.com

Your springs should'nt be a problem tho unless they are out of limits and have shortened too much, did you measure free length

havnt stripped them yet Z.O.A, i know the standard spring needs to be no less than 485mm, im going to inspect, but i like the word progressive, sounds great doesnt it, so thought i would stick some in. interesting steve, on the hagon web site they only have the z900, but the part number is differant between the a4 and1a. wemoto spesify z1a hagon springs , so they seem to do them.

Mick, if i remember rightly, the springs are different for Z1A and Z900.
They have different service lengths, can check in the manual if you want?

blummin power cuts down here, no access. thanks Phil, the z1a and a4 springs have different part numbers, the hagon springs from wemoto seem to be for the 1a,1b and a4,so maybe with the progressive spring, its one spring suits all. i think i will phone wemoto.

Best to definately find out over the phone, but I would ring Hagon themselves instead of the shops, they would know for definate what ones to give you.
I know the standard springs for the A4 are different anyway at 465mm in legth because they have a 40mm spacer under the top fork nut, I do'nt know if this is the case with certain other model Z's

thanks Z.O.A, good idea, i will phone hagon, i dont want to get them all apart, then find ive got the wrong bits, been around to long to get caught out like that.

I have Hagon progressive springs in my A2 , definately better than the biro springs that wre in it when i first got it,

They called Tangerine Dream and Yes progressive but they turned out shite.
