Just putting together the top end of the engine and my valve clearances are miles from where they should be based on the tolerance given in the workshop manual. They all appear to be circa 2.4 mm. The shims fitted appear to be 2.2mm so even with the thickest possible shim fitted (3.5mm) the gap is still too large.
The engine is fitted with Web Camshafts (110 grind) and is the later GPz1100A head with shims under buckets. If using this type of cam does the clearance change or am I doing something badly wrong?

Done that. Comparing standard v Web the Web is certainly smaller than standard but the site is silent on it other than telling you what base circle is in the glossary.
Come on racers! Someone must have fitted these to their bikes? Part number is definitely Z1000/1100 up to 1984.

did you buy them from webcam ,it may be they have sent you the wrong cams by mistake.sounds like they are .900 base circle and not 1.000 base circle.i did look on there site to check and the 110 grind should be 1.000 base .as all the .900 base are advertised as .900 base. maybe worth a call.
if you have any verniers just put them across the base curve and see what they are ,as they will ask you it should be 1.000 or .900.

I got them from Tim Blakemore Racing in Bristol when he did the work on my cylinder head.
It does look like they are the wrong ones and Ade is right on his prognosis. I've had them lurking in the garage for about 6 months so not sure if he will give me a refund or swap for correct size. Will try though as cant afford another $450 plus shipping for another set at the moment. Will ring Web on Tuesday.
