Wondered if anyone could give me some info on z1a swinging arm. I've been a z1oc member for a little while so this is my first topic ( good chance many more will follow . I have just fitted new swing arm bushes and sleeves but can't seem to find any torque values for the pivot shaft nut. when i tighten it the arm is tighter to move in the frame.
Bushes move fine in the sleeves, i'm not sure if i am overtighting the nut or the spacer sleeve inside the arm is slightly short (re used the original as it was in good nick ). any info will be great, cheers

Welcome Aewin, that swing-arm replacement of bushes & sleeves is always a problem.

Assuming you have the rear wheel on, what you have to do to check that everthing is functioning correctly;
Remove both rear shocks with bike on centre stand.
Tighten swing-arm bolt to about 40 foot lbs (guess!).

Lift rear-wheel with the swing arm and check if the end caps remain locked with the swing-arm bolt and they do not move with the swing-arm.... These two end-caps are sandwiched between the sleeves and the distance piece. If they move with the swing-arm, tighten another 10 foot-lbs. When released the rear wheel should fall to the ground, albeit slowly.

If it does not pass this test, the distance piece is too short and another length of tube is needed (length of distance piece should be 141.5 mm.)
Spend some time on getting this correct and those bearings will serve you well... I always liked them in preference to the needle roller mod!

PS I have used smaller outside diameter tube to make these distance pieces, so that I then, need not remove one of the bearings to get them in!

Aewen, just found the torque for the swing-arm (Pivot shaft) nut.......
58 ~ 87 ft-lbs. The higher limit may be hard to achieve with the Z1 series type bolt (two flats). I think 70 ft lbs would be plenty.
