pulled out parts box looking for link arm and found 2 odd balls came with A4/Z1 I'm restoring- all arms in same order bottom to top in photos
1st photo shows all arms same length within a couple mm
2nd photo shows date codes
3rd photo shows arms as fitted LHS swing arm pivot end- RHS brake hub end as only fit one way- bolt holes are diff sizes 12mm and 10mm
4th photo shows arms as fitted
bottom arm 3 11 = 1973 November-use on my late 1973 Z1
2nd arm 5 10 = 1975 October -use on my Oct 1975 A4
3rd arm 3 7 = 1973 July has a bend on swing arm pivot end
4th arm 5 9 = 1975 Sept has a bend on brake hub end
all arms are same length, width, thickness and profile cutting appears factory- they appear to have factory bends if someone did bend these for a wide ass chopper/custom/special they would be shorter then standard straight arms. Hench, they are as you say z1 series/ Z900-A4 brake torque arms. A couple have been modified to take a wider wheel. I think you would be surprised if you lost a mm in the bend. The date codes you have mentioned are correct.

Whats got me beat is the two items in the top of the second photo, near the damper bracket.
They seem as so they are filled with metal foil? Just can't seem to work it out!

they look like they have been cut off something to me. cant work it out yet,but am thinking.

Thankz Garn I honestly thought they would be quite bit shorter if bent? Still doesn't explain the top arm in photo, must of been stamped upside down? in factory.
The 2 items are 4 replacement reflector brackets I'm making up as my A4, A1 and spare A4 frames have all been cut off as we did in the 70's/80's. I have cut down a piece RHS then will bend around the straight side on each end in pic, weld up/grind/weld up/grind till get a good curved end with lip. Cut to length bend up weld, bingo 2 brackets with curved lips. I'm no tradesmen, best I can do to make as original as poss.
Not foil in pic just grinder marks.
All good fun these old muscle bikes.
