Can anyone give me a clue as to the length of the four drain pipes from the float bowls on a Z1B. I don't want to wait until I have the carbs fitted before I measure them.

Also the two breather pipes, where are they routed to when they leave the carbs.

500 mm should be long enough i think the other two pipes conect to the airbox

Thanks, I thought around that length but wanted to be sure, it would make sense for the breather pipes to go back to the airbox but I can't see where. I'll have a closer look in the morning. It's that long since I took the carbs off I have completely forgotten the routing.

DurhamZ1B, the usual length of these drain pipes are a bit longer than you think, as they are suppose to not squirt onto the rear tyre and not drip on the exhaust. You will find with a bit of allowance you will need at least 2.5 meters for the four of them.
The two breathers tubes, on the Z1B, pass thru the oval hole and lay near the airbox grill.

A little story about these drain tubes. Unbeknowns to me, on a long run, I had fuel pouring out of these tubes onto my rear tyre. I turned into a service station, as I thought a "top-up" would be a good idea. As I turned into the station, I noticed some grease on the entrance. You guessed it! As I turned, the back went out a few feet as the petrol had soaked the tyre at slow speed and that, with the grease, I was all over the drive. Managed to save her. However, I now always have those little tubes poking out the right hand side.... RegardZ.

Thanks for that Garn 1, I got some off ebay a while ago for the rebuild and they were only about 300mm long. At the time I thought that was too short, and I wondered where the fuel would dump if something went wrong. And thanks for confirming Paul's answer about the breathers.

The four pipes should pass through a rubber ring thingy that is fitted over the engine mount spacer on the right rear side, the one behind the kickstart. Its called a 'clamp', overflow, in the parts book, number 92037-134 They need to be long enough to go below the trye in case off leaks like GARN says.

Cheers Floydz, I have had a look at the parts book and I have never seen that part on my bike. I bought the bike when it was 3 years old so it must have been left off by the first owner. Thanks for the link to the part at ZPower.
