Hi Guyz,
What's the best chain and sprocket set for the Z1's and A4? Can you have different ratios?
Any info appreciated as always,
B

BigMac, the standard sprockets for the Z1, Z1A & Z1B series and the Z900-A4 are 15 t front ~ 35 t rear. Don't know what the other available sizes are. RegardZ.

ratio you've got at the moment seems fine to me. go for a decent make o or x ring chain.

there are 530 conversions out there too - depends if you want the original 'big chain' look or not

Right: Z1A has a 35 rear sprocket and does 80 mph at 4000 rpm the Z900A4 has a 33 rear sprocket and does 68 mph at 4000 rpm. Can the rear sprocket make this kind of difference? Or is it down to something else? No wonder the A4 uses more fuel than the Z1A! :??

Strange - the smaller rear sprocket should have it going faster for given revs unless one of the rev counters is telling porkies

run both bikes at a constant speed with a satnav visible - that'll soon tell you which one is out if its the speedo.........

I would have thought the A4 should be a bit more fuel efficient than the Z1A.

Because of the carbs? I agree. I'm going to try the GPS as Chrisu suggests. I haven't yet but I'll check the front sprockets as well.
Sorry Chrisu secrets out :biggrin Thanks for the dinner, had a great night. :beer
