New tyres, bt-45's for a4

#1 PostAuthor: Z.O.A » Fri May 01, 2009 8:42 am

Mornin all, just gonna order up a set of skins for the bike, goin by past threads the bt45's seem to be best choice.

Tyres on the bike at the minute are in metric 100/90-19 on front and 130/90-18 on rear, I could'nt find 130/90-18 tyres anywhere by a brand I would trust.
The bt45 size available to me are -3.25 h19 front
4.00 h18 rear
Is this right for the A4?, the only stamp on the rims are 215x18 on the rear and 185x19 on the front, they're Takasago wheels.
Cheers

I think the metzlers are a better tyre. Check out the M&P site for sizes and prices. I've got them on my A1 and A4 and found them very good in all weather conditions.

Don't fit a 130 on the back it's too big and will bugger up your handling, a 120 is just fine. I used to run Metzelers on my Z but now have BT45's as they were a bit cheaper and they are just as good.

Ta lads, but I went ahead and ordered the bt-45's this morning, £132 incl.delivery to the door, which is damn good over here, plus Crossans always use courier service so anytime I've ordered rubber from them I've had it the next day.
They do'nt charge delivery on any order over £50 anywhere in the UK or ROI, website is www.thevisorshop.com just in case anyone is interested, tho ye probably get fairly good deals anyway over that side of the water.

I just had BT45's installed on the Z1A. 100/90 on the front and 120/90 on the rear. I ordered the extra heavy duty Bridgestone inner tubes and was very surprised at how thick they were. Very thick. Only two rather short rides thus far on the new rubber, but I am quite pleased. These tires have made a noticable difference in handling and ride.

On a side note, I also removed the fiber packing material from the Vance and Hines 4 into 1 pipes. I like that better also. Not quite hooligan, but music to my ears
