More Tyre sizing assistance required

#1 PostAuthor: Pigford » Mon Apr 13, 2009 6:51 pm

Now then Zedders.........

I have the following rim sizes which I need to re-tyre..... and I think the tyre sizes don't relate directly to rim sizes

18 x 2.15 (front) & 17 x 2.50 (rear) These are on me Trumpet.

SO, what tyres are gonna fit those rims ..... in METRIC ( eg: 18 110/100) and imperial ( eg: 18 x 3.25)

Hoping to go to the MAX size fitable coz there's plenty of room
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

I would say max 110/90 or 100/80 on the front and 130/90 or at a stretch 130/80 on the back.

Trouble is the lower profile you go the wider rim you need otherwise they will curl round too much.

I have a 130/70 on a 3.50 rim on my LC.

Got a pair of wheels with the 130/70 18 and 110/70 17 on the front. They are from a FZR 600.

Interested ?

Useful chart there Rich.

They used to publish that in the M&P catalogue and I was trying to size Piggys tyres from memory. Pretty close eh !

They used to put racing wets (130/70) on the rear of STD LC wheels but they ended up almost flat in profile which just wore out the edges of the tyre prematurely :|
