Hi All Any tips on removing barrels without resorting to the rubber hammer technique with its danger of fin damage?

Rubber mallet is quite safe - due with care

Wedge some wood on front under cam chain tunnel bit & wallop with a f*ckoff large implement :??

Some barrel have small cutouts each side to carefully insert a flat bladed screwdriver for gentle persuasion

Tie rope around barrels, tie up over frame. tie a rope loop to each side of rope (from left to right) & put lever in & twist... this will cause barrels to lift (hopefully) along with gentle rubber persuasion :!:

can send you a picture of a tool we copied from a genuine kawasaki tool that costs about £3 and takes 5 mins to make out of some half inch square bar. Always works even on barrels that have never been off and there is no risk of any fin damage or damaging the gasket face with a screwdriver. We got the bar from b and q, drilled one hole in it, a small recess and you are ready to lever away. Its the best way we have ever tried to get barrels off with no effort. Let me know if you want a picture of it and how it fits. Gez

Gez635, It would appreciated, if you would post a picture of that Kawasaki barrel removal tool, on this thread. I have seen a home-made version that pushes, by means of four threaded rods, on the four pistons.
