:?? john , there are only two lines from the carbs, they rise up from the tee pieces in between 1 and 2 carbs and 3 and 4 carbs. it sounds like you are trying to put fuel down the breather pipes as well

John, take your time to select the two main fuel lines. They can be very difficult to attach to the two lower tee pieces (resp). Also, when they are too large in diameter you have trouble at the petrol cock.

I now go for "fuel resistant" plastic tubing readily avaiable(approx 6.5mm ID).

For the two breather-tubes on the Z1B, use light-weigh rubber and route them up under the tank and end them around where the two tank support "ribbed" dampers are. Some guys feed them thu the oval hole towards the air cleaner. Don't really know what that oval hole for?

The four carb-overflow pipes are a smaller diameter and feed towards the front of the rear wheel thru a figure eight rubber on the RHS of the upper engine mounting bolt.

Garn 1, I've always assumed the oval hole is for routing the overflow pipes through then pushing them into the clips of the air filter cover and then along to the induction side of the air box. What I would like to know is the purpose of the welded nut alongside the oval hole, any ideas?

I would put fuel filters between the carbs and the petcock to eliminate problems with junk in the tank. Unless you are sure you have a very clean tank, or can trust what you put into it. For the petcock go with the Pingel duel outlet.

Steven, I have seen the oval-hole used to feed the breather tubes through to the air box lid, however, the airbox lid on a Z1B does not have those clips you mention. Notwithstanding, they could be fed thru the hole and just be cut to length across the mesh air-box lid.

The small 6mm nut welded to the side of that oval-hole is to support a cable bracket on the engine side. The bracket is the common type used throughout the machine, it is to hold the main harness and the connection cable to the points.

Thanks for that Garn, i'll be bolting one of those on later :) I often wondered what it was for as I have never seen or noticed one fitted, I should have remembered the Z1 box is different.
