Positioning of rear oil seal

I have finished putting in all new bearings, seals etc but i have a query with the positioning of the oil seal on the disc side on the rear wheel.
Does the seal sit flush onto the bearing or does it sit flush with the edge of the inner hub.
If it sits flush with the edge of the hub there will be a gap behind the seal and the bearing of approx 9mm, which i could pack out with grease, but am not to keen on this idea.
Non of the manuals make it clear and all the bits are there, it just seems odd that all the other bearings sit flush onto the bearings and they are all flush with the edges of the hubs as well.
Am i just being paranoid !

Have a look at the spacer that the seal ran on, it will tell you where it was.
Personally I would put it flush with the edge as this keeps the bearing recess from corroding making it harder to get the bearing out next time.

cheers Rich, will have a look at spacer tommorrow but im sure it doesnt show where the seal ran. Do you mean flush with the wheel and fill the gap behind the seal with grease ot flush onto the bearing

Flush with the wheel and pack it up with grease. A bit of grease becomes insignificant when the ******* bearing gets stuck!
