What is the difference between oilpump from the "early" 73-75 and 76-80
I just bought a oilpump to z1000 but my bike is a Z1a. Is there any who knows? I only know it's different part number. Still waiting for it from US.

I think the mesh screen on the later pumps is held on by three screws no screws on the early one

I'm pretty sure the early ones had the three screws holding the screen, however, regarding your main concern..... the Z900, Z1000-A1 & A2 will fit the Z1A. I'm not sure about the later Z1R, MkII etc. fitting your Z1A.
