Hi, I have had a search through the forum and not managed to come up with an answer.
So, I have aligned the camshafts with the head and counted 44 pins, looks good. Then I have tightened down the cam bearings still lines up. THEN, I tighten the manual tensioner up, turn the crank a couple of times and the marks on the cam shafts and TDC 1-4 don't line up. I have popped the cams off a couple of times and still get the same thing. Where am I going wrong.

Cheers Rob

Hi When you have done what you say turn the engine anticlock slightly sharply them forward, remember marks will only line up when you return to original position, look for a thread on this i did on My Z1b recently took me a few goes to get it spot on.also make sure you pull chain tight up and over the exhaust cam.and install top idler after lining up intake cam.make sure tensioner is taking up all slack and chain has not come off any rollers,Good Luck Paul Jac47

Cheers for the replies, I have managed to sort it out. The main problem was going directly off the diagram in the book. It did not matter which part of the cam chain link the cam markers pointed at as long as they were parallel to the head and it was 44 pins from there.

Sorted it, I was a tooth out. I put some paint on the link that both the gears should point to, popped of the cam caps. Then adjusted it to suit, bolted it down all lines up lovely.
