I don't know too much on electrics either -
Has anyone tried the replacement (uprated) stator and able to comment if it offers significant improvement?
If it does what it says it does, it may be worth considering?

thanks ZIRT, that looks interesting, i like this updrade idea on electrics, my last z900 had a charging failure, my presant z1a blew its headlight on last run out, im hoping to put a brighter bulb in this year. as for TLC and Taffus, childlike

just childlike, you know, i'm 45 years old, do you really think i need this kind of silly humour

Mick,
Z1 enterprises is the easiest to fit + all wiring is complete + extra 10-15% output.
I bought one from electrex & while a lot cheaper, it only has standard output & 3 yellow wires...no plug, so will need a bit of faffing around to get sorted.
Z1 enterprises is the easiest to fit, jus plug n' play. + a bit of sealant around the grommet (read all about that in other threads on here).
By the way, I presume them air horns you've got are musical, just wonderin' what tune they play

Well I can see why you might need a bit more power now!

Put a new loom on it. Ignition switch, both handle bar switches, earth leads, starter cable, solenoid (although you can take them to bits and clean the connectors inside if you are good with a soldering iron), stator and last but not least a new rotor.

When I did my 73 I used the stator from Jeff at Z1 Enterprises along with the regulator/rectifier combo, Dyna-s ignition/coils/wires,and new wiring harness. Rebuilt the handle bar controls. Good investment to upgrade if you plan on riding the thing.
