The new bottom cam chain chain guide roller between the crankcase and block on my z1000a1 is smaller diameter than the one taken out ( only by 5 mm ), does this matter ? Has anyone come across it before ? Help appreciated z1000chris

If different diameter it will effect the cam timing -

I assume you mean the one at the base of the barrels and not the ones at the cylinder head joint.
It seems to be there mainly to dampen the camchain movement when the chain is going onto the crank. Who did you buy it off - ie are you sure it's for a Z1000 and from a reputable manufacturer ie PMC and not a cam chain tensioner rubber someone is passing on!.

Yes, its the one at the base of the barrels, a reliable source has told me that the one that was in there was from a z650 which is bigger, so at some stage it had the wrong fitted, can anyone else confirm that a z650 one is bigger than one from a z1000 many thanks

Doesn't a Z650 have a HI-Vo Chain not a morse chain as Z1000's do?
if in doubt buy the correct one is my advice.

The Z1000 one measures 48mm outside diameter, this is measured on a used one so it is only approximate but should be close enough to decide which one is correct.

Howie, the early ones had morse but then went to HiVo on the later models.
