Leaking overflow pipe
Hi, did a good 80 miles today, stopped off a few times, stopped at mates gaff a couple miles from home and noticed petrol pissing out of one of the overflow pipes. Appears to be 4th carb (far right if sat on bike). Took float bowl apart, everything appeared fine, no blockages, float moves freely and I checked it in a bowl of water. Put it back together and it was ok for a couple of miles and 5 mins or so after getting home its chucked more fuel out. Could be me but it is worse with fuel tap in down position. Can anyone confirm the fuel tap positions for me too, any writing has worn off. I thought the lever pointing forward was 'ON' and down was 'OFF'? I don't know why this would affect it... Out of ideas. Thanks.

Redbeard, it was mentioned a couple of weeks ago on this forum, that the brass overflow-tube may get a hairline split longitudinally, down the tube, inside the float bowl.
The solution was to solder or place heat-shrink tube over the tube. It's not a common problem , however, at least three members had experienced that defect.
