I've toyed with the idea of fitting one of these

After discovering (thanks Taffus) the standard alternator will be working very hard to power a 55/60w (non standard) headlight bulb, I thought one of these would be good, as they are allegedly much brighter, but more importantly use less power........ Funky 'white' colour as well!
Any thoughts?

The one I am looking at on ebay is £75.00 all in...... looks reasonable quality & the seller has lots of good feedback.
There seems to be a 'wealth' of em on ebay, some of 'em absolute cack, I'm sure.
I will try later today to look at some of the more reputeable suppliers, such as vehicle wiring products etc to get a quality/price comparison.

I've been thinking about trying one of these as well, just not got round to it. I'm with you, brighter light, less power consumption and they say longer bulb life.
Only a couple fo things to check...is bulb protected against vibrations form bikes, and what are the dimensions exactly of the bulbs.
You might find the beam pattern is a bit off as the HID bulbs might have the filament ina differnet back/front position to the old bulbs we are used to using. Also chek the length of the bulb behind the lense casing... some are longer I think and will not fit inside the very crowded headlight bowl.
I'll be buying one in a month or so at latest just to give it a try on various bikes.
Taffus, why would you need 2....have you got dual headlights ? often those have differnet bulbs, sometimes 1 dipped/beam and one just beam ?
