has anyone any tips with putting the the carbs back in a z1a.
the airbox is a solid piece and made of hard plastic, so is not very supple.
(like my z1000 rubbers.)
do I need to remove the battery box and air box .....
put carbs on replace airbox and then battery box...

Hi Bunnyz, Spray some WD40 on the rubbers and the carbs will slide straight on.

brian thats the problem , Z1A does'nt have rubbers at the joints between the airbox and carbs...
airbox is one piece of hard solid plastic which clamps straight onto the carbs. ...... somehow.
the airbox is original and old, so should the airbox be soft and not solid ,
z1000 is easier as it has 4 seperate rubbers between carbs and airbox.

A tip from Chris Rivett. He told me to warm the air-box on my Z1B, with a hair-dryer. It worked, although to be fair, it was already fairly supple.

Hi your airbox should be very soft and supple if its gone hard it will be very hard to fit and you will have a hard time making it seal well.one trick is to remove airbox and put in a plastic bag with some silicon spray for a few days
.fit carbs first, removing starter cover gives a bit more clearance, push airbox rubbers down,if they are soft enough should be easy to pop on i agree best to do in warm and use hairdryer, may be best advice is to get new airbox rubber,Cheers Paul J...
