headlight rim size?

bit confused about headlamp rim sizes, my shell measures 7 and 3/4 inch edge to edge, but all the new rims seem to be 7 inch. is 7 inch the inside rim measurement? ??

From memory Mick headlamps come in 2 sizes.
7" and 5 3/4" So that must be including the rim ?

thanks TLC, i guess i must have a 7 inch lamp, but im just being to fussy with the tape measure
im just putting my toys back in the pram now
