Pilot Jet blocked?

I've got a lovely little pilot jet in my hand - but no clear view through the shaft.. Trying to clean it and blow it out but boy is it jammed thick with crud. Am I supposed to see daylight through it, or are there hidden bends best left well alone.
thanks...

if you close one eye you should see daylight through it,
common prob, when cleared fit petrol filters

mm, the pilot in the next carb is the same. Totally blocked, no air passing thru and needle won't go thru either. Strange

The crud that collects in carbs is tough indeed. I rebuilt mine using Keyster carb kits. Those bits that weren`t included I carefully cleaned and cleared any passages with a cocktail stick !
I also put the whole carburettor bodies through a dishwasher.
Caveat. Dishwashers use salt, so be sure to rescue the bodies immediately the cycle has run and dry thoroughly. Also dowse in WD40 to clean afterwards.

sticky bowl , blocked jets , ... has your bike been standing a while , should think the carbs are blocked somewhere else as well, get them a deep clean and solve all the problems at once

Get a saucepan and boil them up in lemon juice. Don't poke them with anything metal or hard, it will fuck them up.

Buy an ultrasonic cleaner, They are cheap on ebay. Gets carb parts and anything else like new. You can watch the muck float right off even after you've done your best with the soak in petrol and air line thing.

You could try soaking in thinners, but don't poke them with anything sharp. I tried everything to sort mine & in the end bought an ultrasonic cleaner & now wonder how I ever managed without it!

Tried to get mine to even fire up today to go for a spin, but no chance. I turned her over 2 weeks ago, a little rough but all 4 pots were working.
Plugs are sparking nicely so suspected carb/ fuel. Drained the carbs, put fresh fuel in but nothing. Fuel is getting into the bowls but it seems fuel/ air mix is not getting to the cylinders so I have to suspect the jets are blocked.
If I get a sonic cleaner jobber, can I use it to clean the pilot, main and needle jets/ air bleed pipe, or do you recommend new ones?
Best place for gaskets/ jets is Allens Performance as Pigford suggests?

Yes, you can use the ultrasonic cleaner for that thread here

Only a similar note......
cleaned my carbs over this weekend to get rid of a flat spot at 6k which has got progressively worse.
No more flat spot, runs on 3 at idle, Bugger
