Suggest you get it polished instead. Alloy does not chrome well at all and it will flake off over time as it gets hot. Once it starts flaking it looks awefull and there is nothing you can do about it.
Mine was chromed by custom fasteners by my mate who was previous owner and I have just paid to have it removed (which has to be done by a chromers who reverse dip it ) and polished.

When I went to see Steve Smethurst recently he had a polished rocker cover for sale, sure he will do an exchange + cash.
Not got his Tel No to hand but Google his name and contact details are on his website.

Thanks for the recomendation jack should be going to ashes soon for me motor you still want me to call in for that brew and your polishing.
Steve r been in the trade nearly 30 years never heard of reverse dipping before, the plated item is put in an acid solution electric current is put through it which activates the acid which in turns eats away at the plating thus leaving the plated item stripped, ther are many misconceptions about polishing and plating.

Mikey, fair comment, I was just trying to get across that its not a diy job to get the old chrome off; it needs to be done by a chromer.
Reverse dipping is what the chromers that took the plating off mine called it, but hey they are the same experts ( specializing in classic cars and motorbikes, according to the website ) that chromed my bottom yoke, including the Stem!!

Yes steve i remember that posting did you ever get that matter resolved any plating firm that claims to specialize in classic cars and bikes would not have plated a yoke stem, and as for them calling it reverse dipping well that was just waffle, hope you wernt offended by my comments as none were intended

Mikey,
No offence at all mate, yes I got it resolved, good old Dave at Zpower sorted me out a new old stock yoke for sensible money and the chromers paid for it after a bit of Gentle persuasion.
I didnt bother getting the new one chromed!!
