Tool sets

#1 PostAuthor: kawamick » Fri Jan 30, 2009 9:52 am

I'm sorting my tool sets. so i have a problem to assign the tool set to the correct bike.
Who can help and are the sets complete, and if not, what is missing.I have also a lot of single tools to complete the sets.
The second one is for Z1R.

Sorry, not for sale.

Heres a copy of an earlier posting on bags and tools

One of our flock was wondering if the early type velcro fastning repro bags you see on ebay are correct, here we have some images that show that they are not quite exact

First of all the 3 types very early velcro far right, the later 2 popper on the left, then the much late 1 popper type in the middle
Image

the repro one on the top with original below
Image

my pen points out some differances shuch as the position of the velcro strip and plastic welding seams

Then the tools, this is the early Z1 kit with a crest on the tools like the one seen on the screwdriver handle (rare to find a gold crest one)
Image
and heres the later kit z900/z1000 and the crest has been replaced by the the big "K" logo
Image
Hope this helps

You do seem to have quite a few strange tools, best thing is to look in the mickey Heses book 3 theres good quality images

Eg heres a 78 Z1R kit

Starting with the bags we have a Z1, Z900 / Z1000 and a later bag from a smaller machine.
The Z1 and Z9 / 1000 bags are padded.

Image

Next is my Z1000 kit. You will see that the 8 / 10mm spanner is of the earlier type and that the feeler gauge does not have the spark plug feeler tang which it should have.

Image

You will see that besides being "K KAWASAKI" and not "K Kawasaki" which are from later bikes, they are of the largest size and of better finish than smaller machines tools. I think it may be possible that they changed to lower case during the Z1R run but someone else will know more than me. The lower tool is not from my 1000 tool set as these are identical to Z1 tools in size and finish but have the "K" instead of the logo.

Image

Here are the spare tools I have to suit the Z9 / 1000. The bag is incorrect and probably comes from a Z400 or somesuch ?

Image

I do have some spare Z1 tools but may have a buyer already ? I will post later if any left.
