Newbie to Z ownership.
Hi all. Have recently bought a 77 Z1000A1 and would like to say hello. Have also applied to join the club so hope to see some more Z’s this year.
I’ve got a couple of questions and wondered if you guys could help out, I did try searching first but couldn’t find anything relevant.
Firstly I notice the front brake lever switch is not wired into the light. So obviously the front brake does not operate the brake light. The back one does ok. The bike passed an MOT in August last year so I’m wondering if this is normal?
Secondly, can anyone recommend a good source of spares because I need a new brake lever after accidentally bending the current one.
Lastly there are clear plastic pipes running from the base of each of the carburettor float bowls. These currently point down over the gearbox and out over the front of the rear swing arm. Should these pipes be pointing down, or should they be raised up above the level of the fuel level in the float chambers?
Cheers all.

Hello D.
The tubes at the bottom of the float bowls are overflow pipes and should just vent to somewhere away from the tyre.
Front brake switch is incorporated in the distributor block and works under pressure when the brake is applied.
For spares ask Z Power, Z1 Enterprises or ask in the wanted section of the club. Much cheaper to ask the club but don`t forget to return the favour to someone someday
S`wat clubs are all about...........keeping each others bikes on the road.
Here`s mine.

hello mate i am fairley new to the site , and its an interesting place to look for info as for your brake light question, you only need a light switch on one lever either front or rear on a bike produced before i think 1987.. as for your carbs i think its float overflow so will need to be below the floats. all the best BB

Why change the paint ? £500 I`m sure you could spend elsewhere ? (Like a tool kit)
Or on the wife ? (Only joking

There should be a rubber band with a hoop in it which is fitted around the rear right engine mount spacer, this is where the pipes from your bowls should route, through the hoop then down between engine and swingarm pivot,, also they should be black but if you see the price of new ones i'd leave them clear.
PS. For something like a lever you could try Wemoto probably a bit cheaper but most other standard bits as was said Zpower or Z1 Enterprises are best, but if you want nice go faster bits Debben Performance.
