chain oil pump

Does anybody run with the chain oil pump fitted but dry Ie with no oil in the tank,is there a problem with doing this(apart from the chain not getting lubed!! i know) with running the pump dry :?: :D
Also there is only one connection to the pump so how does it work :?:

i would tend to think running it dry would knacker it up,(you wouldnt run yur engine dry would you) :roll:

It will shag it don't do it, but if you want to keep it on, the shaft can be removed,,

Thanks guys,thats what i thought,seems the drive for the pump is provided from a pin on the output shaft locating in a slot on the pump drive shaft. The Pin has been removed from mine so i reckon i can fit it safely without fear of driving it dry. :D
Still curious as to how the pump supply,s the oil, the book says it 'splash feeds',there is only one inlet pipe connection which i presume is from the tank but cant seem to see where the oil exits :roll: am i being a little thick :roll: :?: any one know the answer :?:

Quite right Steve, if the pin's out you can run it dry.
