Airbox confusion

#1 PostAuthor: mikey » Tue Oct 07, 2008 3:53 pm

Started reassemblying my MK2, long way off from fitting the airbox but kept looking at it and it just didnt look right, it wasnt fitted to the bike when i got the bike, so my Question is the airbox on a MK2 the same as an A1/A2? cuz the airbox i got with my MK2 is completely diffrent to my A2 airbox and out of curiosity i offered it up and it dont seem to fit in the frame and none of the mounting holes on the airbox seem to match up to anything on the frame, confused? i know i am. :?? :?? :?? :??

I`ve just looked at my magazine and it is totally different under the seat to the A1 / A2.

It looks like the intake trumpet sits below the battery box / tool tray !

Mikey the air filter housings for the A4/A1/A2/Mk2 are all quite similar, apart from the silencers the main differences are in the gauze filter area and a few of the indentations of the shape, as far as i'm aware they will all fit each other (of a sorts) in fact I have a Mk2 box here which was fitted to my A1 when I first got it. When you say the fixing points don't match up what do you mean as there aren't any other than on the silencer (I think).

Thanks for all the replies guys, sorry dont have any pics im a pc dummy dont know how to do it, But here goes, on mine the air filter housing is the same as the one in chrisu's pics except where its cut out to fit between the frame rails, on mine the cut outs are on an angle and there are no bolt holes in the bottom for the airbox stay, and the breather half is a square box with a trumpet on it.
But on the back of my frame is the mounting bracket to bolt the breather box to but there is nothing on the breather box to bolt it to.
