have a problem trying to locate some touch up paint for my candy green side panel.I have a small area that as some damage to the paint and i want to touch it in.
I have been told that my bike is not the same of green it should have been back in the early 70s,perhaps not enough coats applied.
Seems abit top heavy to have the all of the bike resprayed,as some paint shop suggestered.
Can any one help.
Regards Chris

ive seen a request in classic mechanics about a similar problem, and apparently no two zeds were the same, in fact sometimes the side panels didnt match the tank! it was all down to who ever painted the bike as the colours were built up with different candys/and metalics, the best option is to take the panel to a local car body shop and get them to use the colour matching computer that they use to re-spray cars, basically they scan your panel and the computer then works out mixture/colour for the paint
then all you need to do is slip the guy a drink and hey presto you have a beautiful panel again! i would try a back street place as you are more likely to find someone prepared to do this 1/2 hr job for you for a bit of cash in the old sky rocket!

Like grumpuszed says no 2 panels were the same. You could go to a kawasaki dealer in the 70's and buy a brand new genuine panel for you zed and it would be a different shade to your tank etc. My mate can do the panel but you will have to send it to him, this is his web site, he had a 73 z1 a few years ago. i get all my bikes painted by him,

give him a ring or email him, he's called mally and he works from home just off jct 34 on the M6 at lancaster. tell him kinny sent you.
