It` a piece of crap! It is something to do with the headlight. Most people ditched it ,then your headlight gets brighter. If you want 100% original
fit it to the loom under petrol tank.I expect someone could/will give you a
more technical/accurate answer but I think that`s basically it.

its a resistor

should have a metal bracket with it that fits around it with a bolt running through the middle. The bracket fits directly under one of the coils and is held in place by the same nuts that are used to hold the coils in place. The bracket tend to crack so a lot of people discard them and leave them stuffed in the loom. i would keep it if you are using a standard rectifer and regulator as we all know the charging system is not great!. If you are replacing them with a combined ect/reg unit I guess it is not so important. Previuos thread was right about it being part of the head light system.
Bracket part no is 32122-034

It's a wire wound ballast resistor. I did investigate it's purpose when rewiring my Zed and then figured it was best put in the not required box in teh hope that it will be worth lots of money one day

I have a feeling it might have been something to do with one Kawasaki's many efforts to stop the bikes blowing headlight bulbs, but it just made 'em dim.

The Old Gurl has done well over 3K miles since resto and all is working well and I have yet to blow a headlight bulb, despite keeping it on at all times :D

So bottom line - store it carefully in case it because valuable one day

What the Hell is this?
