front brake caliper position

#1 PostAuthor: 02GF74 » Mon Jun 30, 2008 10:00 am

the first Zeds, up to A1 had front brake caliper(s) in front of the forks. A2 and subsequent model, in fact on all modern bikes they are positioned behind the forks.

why?!?!?!?!

two reasons I can think of is lower C.of.G and they are better protected from road muck and the weather?

three now; the caliper can eb mader lighter for the sme strength as the lug will be in compression (mounted behind) rather than tension.

Probably both reasons - lower c of g probably the main one as they frequently did it on race bikes too.

And it looks neater.
