Hi, Iv'e checked the needle valves and they look ok.Despite this it still leaks fuel. Could it be the washers for the housing that the needle valve seats in to need replaced.
Also Float bowl gaskets should I replace these as well ?
Any ideas and best source for the parts ?

You don't say where your leak is coming from, If its coming from the joint where the float chamber joins the main carb it maybe that you need new gaskets. You can of course use a little jointing compound here if your stuck, but just a little. It maybe that your floats are set too high, the only way to check this is to make a tool out of a spare float bowl drain plug. Drill a hole right through it so that you can glue a length of clear plastic pipe into it. Now fit this in place of the drain plug and hold the pipe up the side of the carb body. Does help if the bike is on the centre stand for an accurate reading. Now turn the petrol on and as the float bowl fills, petrol will fill the pipe also to the corresponding level in the float bowl. You now need to adjust the float height so that it cuts off the fuel when the level is about 4mm below the float bowl to carb body joint. Now obviouslly if the level goes right up beyond this joint petrol will start to leak into the inlet tract. This is usually curable by gently bending the little tag on the float assembly that closes the inlet valve. Its unlikely that the fibre washer on the valve is your problem as long as they look ok they probably are. If petrol is leaking out of the overflow pipes when you put it on the side stand, again this points to float heights. If after you have adjusted the float heights you find that one of the carbs is still overfiling, this points to the inlet valve, it maybe that a piece of detritus has found its way onto the seat and is preventing the valve from closing properly and causing the carb to overfill. Phew! I think that should keep you busy for a while, let us know how you get on. Good luck

If your using aftermarket gaskets, the grey ones, they are crap and soak-up fuel continuously. I overame this by fitting the genuine ones and hey presto no leaks.
