another newby needs help!!!!!

Hi Guys...
help required....... trying to make an Eddie Lawson rep Z1100R a bit better looking and as its fairly original and would like to keep it this way so can any one tell me what the original black finish is on the outer engine covers is???? it looks a bit like black anodising over polished alloy !!!!
all help very appreciated

Hi there,I think it's a black chrome finish but I'm not 100% sure.
I think there's an industrial finishers/black chromers on the Highmeres Industrial Estate in Leicester
You may want to consider powder coating either in satin or gloss black.
Have a word with Steve Cundall a.k.a. BIG GREEN BUS as he's restored a few GPz1100 and they have the same engine finish

I,m pretty sure Jack is right that the cases are originally black chrome, mine have been done in gloss black powder coating but I have some originals in not too good condition that definitely look like black chrome.

Maybe PJ1 exhaust paint would be suitable

Gloss black powder coating looks really good on outer casings . PJ1 satin black on rest of engine . Get a Kerker race pipe .

As I recall the black chrome wasn't a raging success and resulted in warranty claims, as Mikey says in another thread chrome on alloy isn't a great choice.
