fuel line hose

Hi guys, I need your experience to explain something that is not clear to me:
Sometimes I read treads about fuel hose in particular hoses of 6 and 8 mm, when speaking of 6 mm fuel line, 6mm is the inner diameter of the hose or the outern, I suppose the inner but I want to be sure.
I would like to use a fuel filter for my z1r, the original hose is 6 mm (inner diameter) but I've read that for that bike is better an 8mm fuel hose, what do you suggest 8 or 6 mm hose and fuel filter ?
Second question:
Which tecnical information gives the "fuel starving time" and which is the way to misure it ?

The larger the fuel pipe diameter = more fuel flow.
If you only have 6mm, and put a filter in line, this may restrict the flow too much.
Depends how much fuel the carbs are taking, but may not be a problem if you don't ride flat-out
As for - "fuel starving time" -

The diameter of tube you use is pretty much governed by the diameter of the fittings on your carbs and petrol tap. I have in-line filters on mine, but I'm not sure how much benefit they are. They don't seem to have caught many bricks, and have caused issues with pipe kinking so I may replace the pipes with no filters. They didn't have any as standard.

buy a filter off a gpz1100 and you will not have a flow problem as they use high flow taps for the DFI, but you may have probs locating the filter as it is quite big.

After I've installed a 6 mm fule filter I'had the bike hogging down when opening full throttle !!
for the fuel starving time if you don't know much about it, it means that is not very important
..

inner diameter. you will find that the tube wall thickbness can vary hence outer diameter is not particularly meaningful.
which filter are you using? some are direction - have arrow to show fuel flow.
Note that in our engines the fuel is fed via gravity so thatwould be at a much lower pressure that if there was a fuel pump - maybe that is why you are getting starvation?
remove the filter and if starvation goes away, the filter is responsible.
Today I removed the fule tap and if you ride on the on postion - there should be no need f or any filter - as ^^^ said, they were made without a filter.
