Hi, does anyone know the differences between an Z1000 R1 and R2 rear brake master cylinder as I am trying to replace the piston with one from Z1 Enterprises.
Cheers Rob

Not sure about differences but would imagine the R1 is the same as a J2 and the R2 the same as a J3. I'm sure Jack will be able to confirm if right or wrong.

All that I know for saue is that J1/J2 are different to J3.
You'd have to speak to Phil @ Z-POWER to check the differences between the models.
I can't remember what the difference is,whether it's a longer piston stroke, different diameter piston, different end design to the piston.
Maybe you can cross reference from Kawasaki.com.
If I get chance I'll check my parts manuals,OLD SCHOOL

Here are the part numbers for master cylinder pistons:
1000J:43020-1019
1000R1:43020-1019
1000R2:43020-1036
Part numbers for the brake rod assy, that pushes the master cylinder:
1000J:43010-1004
1000R1:43010-1004
1000R2:43010-1007.
The 1000R1 is listed as a 1982 model,the 1000R2 is listed as a 1983 model.
There are different part numbers for the R1 and R2 complete master cylinder and these also vary between South Africa and Australia.
From the pics in the parts manual, the 1000J/R1 brake rod is longer than the R2 brake rod.

Just a public thanks to Big Green Bus, who has sent me a complete master cylinder when I was only expecting a rod.

Rob you wouldn't want a rodding from the Big Pink Sausage
You can't get the seals seperately, you have to buy a repair kit including the piston.

Rob,the Legend that is Big Pink Sausage was the inspiration/idea behind The Full Monty film.
He was portrayed in the film version by Hugo Speer
