I've rebiult the z1000a2 engine, now by that i mean only the top end really needed it, however it has had a rebore, pistons and rings etc. How should i run it in and for how long?500 miles or 1000miles?

4000rpm and dont let it labour uphills oil and filter change at 500miles next 500miles gradually increase rpm without ranting the nuts off it im still working on 1st 500miles which will be done after sundays ace cafe run

Start it up, warm it up shut it off Change oil and filter, retorque head, if you have replaced the cams don't let it go below 2000 revs for 20 mins. Run it through the revrange don't just keep it at one bit the rings will bed in better under load but don't allow it to get too hot for the first 500 miles. You are only running in the rings not the rest of the engine. Change oil again at 500miles - the first one is the most important though as it will get rid of most of the crap.

use cheapo oil for first few 100 miles, NOT SYNTHETIC stuff, as this is TOO SLIPPY and will hinder running in
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Zeds don't like synthetic oil , they seem to burn more when run on synthetic .

hi padders.....the seat came back looking good....thanks for putting me onto p+p seating...looks like i will sell the Giularie sports seat now. I'll take some piccies this weekend of the finished project and post them on this site on monday.

Hi pigford.....i would love to make it to the ace on sunday. The weather forecast down here is for rain all weekend. I don't mind riding my zx7r in the rain but not the zed....we'll see. What time are most people meeting there?
