Well I've just asked one whats the capital of England and didn't get an answer so I'd say they are quite thick.
Just measured a new one Rich at 2mm. These were supplied by z1 enterprises. I was wondering if there is anything special about them as considering they are only a washer they aren't cheap. Is it possible to get the same degree of reliability with cheap ones from a fastener suppliers ?

They're copper coz they're softer than steel, so make an oil tight seal

At that price you won't be
too hard up if you have to double them up

But if I do that the top one wouldn't be in the recess to locate it and would probably move while tightening

. I'll just have to find a lump of copper and spend twenty mins parting some off on the lathe

Rich, there's no need to do that, just anneal the original ones. Heat them up to cherry red and let them cool naturally.

I've already done that (numerous times!) unfortunately they are starting to get a little thin so before having to splash out lots of pennies on nice new Mr Kawasaki ones I'm checking up on the alternatives
