hi folks. i have z900a4. i have just taken out my standard fork springs to replace with Progressive springs. Trouble is, the pro`s are about two and a half inches longer than original springs, which worries me. Can this be right. It will take a hell of an effort to get them in i would say.havent measured them yet. Also, do you think standard 10w oil is sufficient for these new springs? Cheeres Tommy

Sweptail, two & a half inches longer than the original springs! Sounds a bit much, I would seek advice from where you purchased or a m/c mechanic in the area. Even if you got them in, I think they would be too hard.

Unlike the Z1/A/B the Z900 springs have a spacer (44028-039) between the spring and the cap bolt which if I remember correctly is about 2" long.
I wonder if the new springs are designed to be fitted without the spacer?
Don't assume anything, check with the supplier before fitting!

Something else to consider - the old springs will probably have "squashed" somewhat, making them shorter, though I can't see them getting 2"1/2 inches shorter. There is a "service length" given for them in the Kawi and Clymers manual too I believe.
