Any one tell me what this fellow is supposed to be connected to? I have a feeling that it's just an overflow. There's two of them each feeding two carb bodies.
I have some tube for the float bowl over flows, but need to get a metre of 5mm ID rubber pipe for these according to the parts book. I also need some clips for the small float bowl overflows. The chap at Zed Power said he didn't blame me for refusing to pay nearly four quid each for 'em any more than my shock at the cost of the 5mm ID pipes at nearly a tenner each! Anyone tell me where I can source these bits 'n' bobs for a realistic price?

Any wee garage will have rolls of the stuff. That is where I got mine. Cost me about ?6 for all the fuel/carb lines.

Depends which bike and carb it is. It is either a vac take off (#3 carb usually) and will go to the inlet side of the slide if you blow through it or it is a breather to atmosphere (#2 and #4 carbs) for the float bowls and will connect to the fuel chambers and across to the other carb by the rubber tubes connecting the alloy pipe coming off the casing boss it goes into.

Agree with Rich and would further say that it is the breather tubes connection, since I recall you have a Z1000-1A .
The two tubes are usually threaded thru the frame (small oval hole) and are clipped into the plastic top of the air cleaner. I think they are of such a length that they hang from these clips to be near the dual inlet air silencer.

That's one of the carbs I bought before the resto started. I had it vapour blasted, but frankly it's not a msitake I'd make again. I only dragged it out of the loft cos someone on here wanted a float bowl and it seemed easier to take a picture of the carb without the rest of the bike getting in the way. Vapour blasting has it's place but I don't think it's suitable for carbs - prolly OK for Harleys and hot bulb stationary engines

Here's a scan of my A2 handbook showing how the two pipes route, not very clear but may help (one appears shorter than the other?), also give an idea of length, always nice to be bit to long than a bit to short

Ralph, I got Viton tubing and clips from my local 'Old Skool' bikeshop, cost me a tenner for the lot. Try one in your area, I looked at Mr Marsdens prices and nearly choked on me Vindaloo!
