Z1R Instrument plastic surround

Hi Everyone,
The black plastic surround which covers the clocks on my Z1R has a long split across the tacho. I have tried to keep an eye for a replacement on ebay and tried various used parts dealers, but apparently there as rare as rocking horse ....
Does anybody know a plastics expert so I can get this repaired, the previous owners drillled a couple holes to put the fairing screen bolts through it to secure it but now I've the bike up to scratch its the only bit which lets it down.

Hello mick, i've been looking for a dash for ages also, doesn't need to be in great condition just in one piece. i'll pay you any reasonable price for it, what do you have in mind? thanks david

I've bought running bikes for less!
The yanks might throw their money away, I think I would try and repair the original.
I dropped my FJ1100 many moons ago and broke part of the fairing. I managed to buy another fairing that had been damaged on the opposite side. The two halves of the fairing had been joined up in a fairly permanent manner. I managed to 'break apart' the two halves of both fairings and bought soem whoopy do glue from a specialist glue supplier in Bristol. It had a little bottle of some liquid that was painted on one side of the joint and the adhesive was smeared on the other half. The stuff stuck like shit to a blanket and held tight even at 150mph. I think that the make was 'Permabond'. It was bloody expensive, but saved me an absolute mint on a new/undamaged fairing.
I am sure that for considerably less than 500 bucks, your panel can be saved.

Hi Mick,
No affence intended, I am looking to repair my original one,someone told me yesterday that I could fibreglass the back of the unit and fill and spray the front. So I will try that, I will send the money today for the screen trim.

Sounds likes these bikes are worth more in parts than as a whole.

It sometimes feel like it. Think I paid 140 quid for a set of meters with a cracked meter case cover last year on ebay UK. Got it repaired and its now mounted on my bike. I only needed the meter case cover, but thought a set of spare meters would be good to have. Mick got me a fairing and last week, a seat lock cover. If it wasn't for Mick, I'd still be looking for parts. The meter case cover is probably the Z1-R part that's hardest to find.

Unfortunately it at times seems that way
Z1-R are worth more in parts than as a whole bike
but they are going up in value.
Most clox dash have been repaired so a pristine item is worth BUX
as are the zorst
