My z650 rectifier on the period custom bike has decided to go into meltdown so needs replacing. Is there a plug n play unit, bar conectors, available from anywhere?
Closest Ive found at a sensible cost is http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/acatalog/RC38.html but elektrickery being my acheles heel I dont really know what im looking for. I know they convert ac to dc but are they rated differently or anything. Not interested in rectifier regulator update just want to replace the existing unit.
Cheers

Got a feeling the early z650 was 3 phase and later 2,just check what you need, its pretty easy to use on of the generic ones off ebay though, also i ahve just got a couple of brand new cb600r ones for a tenner each which i have converted for use on my z projects, very easy to do..PaulJ

Paul, presumably a 3 phase rectifier has 3 yellow wires and a 2 phase has 2? Is that how you tell the diffference? Mine is part no 21061-031 and has a total of 5 wires. 1 white 3 yellow 1 black. So 3 phase?
Electrixworld list a b1 as a rec/reg combined which i think is wrong. Mine has seperate rec and reg. They also want £800 which im hoping is a typo!

Does it not matter that it is a rec reg paul. It has 3 yellow 2 red 2 bluey green. Mine has a seperate reg and seperate rec so being the electrical dumbass that i am i dont understand how i would go about wiring your suggested one up.

Ditch your seperate units, just wire the three outputs from your genny in any order to the 3 yellows on the unit i gave the link to,put the red to the positive on the battery and the green to the frame,ie negative ,thats it!if you have soldering skills re use your plugs,oh this unit has two greens and two reds but they are common so just double them up..Cheers Paul J

That seems within even my limited electrical capabilities, thanks.

One additional point :!:

Lots of Reg/Recs have an extra wire which are "switched" - used to sense when the bike is turned on. I think this is to isolate/activate the Reg/Rec so there is mo chance of leaking power from battery thru Reg/Rec :?:

No trigger wire reqd on the ones i have suggested, its easy to do any way i usually use the live side feed from the back brake switch,ie only triggers the reg/rect when ignition is on,
