Has any one braced their standard Z1/Z900 swinging arm. If so do you have any pics, drawings , specs etc. One of the guys at work said he used to have a Moriwaki tuning book which showed how to brace, but he don't have it anymore.
Any advice appreciated.

Now, can I ask, with reference to the bottom pic, what is the pad on the chain side leg? Anyone know? The only thing I can think of is a chain rubbing pad. Looks good!
I have seen the standard swing-arm with a 1/4" milled slot down each leg with a 1/4" x 3/4" mild steel bar, intermittently (3" runs) welded, both legs. It was on my Z1B Yoshi, that I sold last year. However, the above (e-bay one) looks better. Of course! the expensive alloy swing-arms available in Japan are really the go, as I've heard they improve the handling tremendously!

Garn1, the nylon things exactly wot you summised, to stop chain damage to swinger!
Does look like a very smart job! I'd have though it'd be cheaper to buy an aftermarket jobbie, rather than employ an engineers services, unless u can do it yerself! :p
If you're doing 'non-standard' mods, get a JMC, Metmachex, Dresda, etc!

If you do not want a box section arm look at fitting a ZRX 1100 or 1200 cheaper than a Metmachex or JMC.

Chaps i wholeheartedly agree with you all that that swing arm is a cheeky little number 
Regards to DIY that would be one helluva achievement.
