My radiator screen is golden.
Rad side covers have silver trims.
Engine side covers and rocker cover are golden.
All my reference pics show the rad screen to be black.
Correct part code is 14037-0043
Should a ZRX 1200R A1P 2001 model have a gold rad screen?
Or has some cad bejazzled the old girl with a non standard thingy
Will a golden screen gain me access to any Xmas Chocolate Factories
Any ideas please?

The stock rad screens had a diamond section in the centre that could (and did) wear a hole in the radiator matrix. They were black but would likely have been removed long ago. Do not refit one unless you want bother. Your side trims sound correct as to the engine covers.
If it really bothers you, spray the screen you have with heat resistant paint.

Thanks Charlie,
Do you have a pic of the diamond thingy by any chance?
So I can work out if I got a standard screen that has been sprayed or something else.
I will certainly be painting it back to black if that was the 2001 colour and it is a genuine screen.

the diamond thing is a rubber grommet in the shape of a small diamond that was pushed into the middle of the grill and sits between the rad and the grill. It's to stop it rattling on the rad but grit gets stuck between it and rubs a hole in the rad. I removed the grommet and slightly bent the grill forward a little.

Ok Thanks.
What does the damper mount onto?
All the screen diamonds look similar on this pic -

presume you would just stick it on the central diamond as it is a sole damper??

Well, if you ask on the ZRXOC or on ZRXOA, you will find several that refer to the diamond problem. It even has it's own dedicated pinned post to that effect on the OA site.
Also, those OE guards are not good at keeping stones out, the mesh is too wide to be properly effective. Small stones and grit travelling at speed can get through and puncture the mesh. Aftermarket guards give much better protection.
Oh, yeah - Kawasaki themselves also stopped fitting the rubber diamond on the later bikes .... maybe there really was something in the stories ?
