The wiring on my z1000 is in a bit of a mess. Has anyone on here bought one of the new harnesses from zpower ? I was going to try and overhaul my existing loom but as it's best part of 40 years old I'm tempted to replace it. Just wondering if these new harnesses for £79.99 are worth it i.e. Decent quality ?

They are pretty reasonable with some inconsistence's with connecters, nothing that cant be worked around. Modified one to fit a Z1R recently with no issues, so on balance I would say yes

I bought one a few years ago (actually from the USA) and did have some problems.
The soldered joints under the sleeving by the steering head were electrically sound but not mechanically strong.
There are some German made ones but these are twice the price.
You take your choice.

Are these early Z1000 only or is one available for the J series bikes?

I got a Z1000R loom by PMC from Dave at Saisei. It's US model but i think it's pretty much the same as a J3. I just started fitting it and so far the only issue I found is the instrument cluster has the wrong fitting. Not end of world as i would not be using it. For what it cost I couldnt get someone else to make me one and I hate building my own.

I'm working with one of these on my J2 also. Did you run wires for the dimmer etc from the connector at the back or some other approach? So far finding the lighting power stops at the rear and also the dimmer wire. I'm hoping to not have to run extra wires to my light switches.
Cheers

To be honest other than unpack it and sort of route it I have nothing else. Next weeks job!
