What ignition options are there for the Unitrak engine, I think my igniter unit may not be advancing the ignition, also my wiring is in pretty bad condition, so I'm thinking about replacing the whole lot and wondering what the options are.
Ones I know of so far
Dyna S - needs J casing and advancer
Dyna 2000 - needs J casing
Boyer Bransden - no idea if this fits the Uni engine
Kawasaki igniter - expensive new and unknown quantity buying 2ndhand, especially as my igniter looks like an 1100R one rather than a Unitrak one.
Any advice gratefully recieved

I think I'll probably go Dyna S with the J Casing and Advancer.
I don't really want to be relying on 33 year old electronics, wiring and coils
I could get the Dyna 2000 and not use the J mechanical advancer, but I don't think that it's worth the extra £150 to do away with the mechanical advancer, and I quite like the simplicity of the mechanical advancer and the ease of seeing whether it's working or not.

This new fangled ignition stuff is all foreign to me.
I went for the 2000 system and am happy.
Easy to set rev limiter and next year I'll have a play with its programming to see if we can make it any smoother.
The tacho output was dead handy too.

I have Dyna 2000 on my GPz Unitrak engined Moto Martin. As you correctly point out you will need J casing to mount. Also make sure the Dyna box is isolated from vibration. I think from memory Dyna S is not listed for Unitrak but cant remember why.
I ran Boyer on my GPz track bike. It was built for Team Glam and included rev limiter. Only issue ever was with connections at a very wet Angelsey track day but electrical grease and tie wraps solved that. They are also UK based so if it does go wrong they are at the end of the phone and are very helpful.
Unitrak motor in my ELR is connected to stock ELR igniter with no issues.

To be honest I cant remember and i sold the bike a few months ago so cant go look! I think it was Unitrak given it was made for the bike.

I have Dyna 2000 fitted to my Moto Martin which has Unitrak motor. It is correct that you will need to replace the casing but they are fairly easy to come across. My other GPz has Boyer ignition which is in the Unitrak case. Neither require the mechanical advance/retard.
I think I have the standard ignitor somewhere as well if you prefer to stay standard.
