z1000 MK2 a few settings needed please.

#1 PostAuthor: Pasc » Fri Feb 22, 2008 7:21 pm

Can anyone help with a few settings for the z1000 MK2 ?
Plug gap ?
Carb settings, air screws, needle clips etc ?
In and ex clearances ?
And if anyone has setup instructions for z1000 piranha electronic ignition I would be most grateful for a scan or photocopy.
Thanks chaps.
ps, or if anyone has a manual covering the MK2 that they would like to sell I would be happy to buy it.

Setting are the same as the A2, so plug gaps are 0.7-0.8mm, as for the rest I have the official service manual here if you would like to borrow it, as it covers 78 thro 80 models.

What do you need to know about the ignition?

for 79 model year, it says the valve clearance is 0.05 - 0.15 mm, for both inlet, and exhaust.

Cheers Kev, it's an A3 model. I've got manuals for the 81 to 84 Zthous but not for the pre 81 models. I might take you up on your offer of the manual but I'll wait and see if I can buy one first.
Regarding the Piranha igniton I'm really just after a copy of the setting up instructions just to double check it's set correct. Piranha sold out to Newtronic systems a while back and there are no documents for download on their website.
Cheers for the info.

Pasc,

One thing to watch on those pirahna systems, is alway set them in away from bright sunlight.

Best to do in the garage, no bright spotlights, coz it'll confuse the optical sensors.

If the trigger plate is mounted on the auto-advance, just set to 40degs advanced (or maybe a bit less) whilst holding the unit fully advanced :P
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
