Justin, the measurements of my plate are 9.5 inches x 6.5 inches and the letters are 2.5 x 1.75 inches, guess this is regulation size, had mine made by Framptons,(just google) though I wouldn,t recomend them as the first one they sent was not up to scratch although in fact it was actually scratched! and covered with overspray!! :( second attempt was better.
Have seen Tippers plates and they are good, though a little more expensive
hope this helps. :D

Years ago I got pulled up in Chertsey by P.C.Plod/Alexi Sayle lookalike?
"Do you know why I`ve stopped you?
"No?"
"your number plate should be....X"xY"
The letters on your number plate should be.....so and so x so and so
"oh?"

Any way if your in doubt, ask P.C.Plod.

I believe that pre 1973 was when you could have the non yellow plates.
